Adventure Within was evolved out of our love for yoga and nature. Both are balancing points in our hectic and fast-paced world that allow us to stay grounded and energized. Our mantra is "get outside and play."

For more than a decade, the staff of American Adventure Sports has been coaching and encouraging people to get outside and play. From beginner adventurers to seasoned adventure racers, American Adventure Sports specializes in teaching the how-to for outdoor adventures.

Our guest houses feature all the amenities: antique furniture, 2 bathrooms, a full kitchen, and laundry…plus homemade bread and juice. All this nestled in the quaint and beautiful river village of Ohiopyle, PA.

We love the water, and the waters of the Laurel Highlands are some of the purest and cleanest anywhere on the east coast. Let our experienced guides teach you how to kayak or canoe or enjoy a white water rafting trip on the lower Youghiogheny River.

For the perfect combination of flow…mind, body, and spirit…spend a day learning to climb up the rocks or rappel down them. Our certified mountaineering instructors have taught thousands of beginners how to safely enjoy the sport of climbing.

Our experienced team is happy to help you custom design an Adventure Within escape that fits your groups personality, wants, and needs. Our standard packages are 3 days and 2 nights and are all-inclusive.

All activities are customizable and optional, and clients are encouraged to participate, or not, at their discretion.

A typical schedule for the Adventure Within follows:

FRIDAY
  • Check-in after 3 PM
  • Welcome meeting
  • One-hour yoga relaxation session, followed by a local wine tasting and hors d’oeuvres
  • Dinner
SATURDAY
  • 90-minute yoga session on the banks of the Youghiogheny River
  • Healthy breakfast of eggs, fruits, fresh baked pastries, juice, hot tea, and coffee
  • Free time to enjoy the rest of your morning biking, hiking, reading, or just enjoying the beautiful scenery
  • Packed lunch, enjoyed out in nature
  • Instructional river-basics session
  • Afternoon of paddling and swimming
  • Dinner
  • One-hour yoga relaxation session
  • Choice of staying in or joining us at the local Falls City Pub, a favorite for locals and river guides
SUNDAY
  • Short hike along a mountain stream
  • 90-minute yoga session on a rocky outcropping overlooking the forest floor
  • Healthy breakfast of eggs, fruit, fresh baked pastries, juice, hot tea, and coffee
  • In the afternoon, you can go for a horseback ride or visit Frank Lloyd Wrights architectural masterpiece Falling Water
  • Packed lunch to enjoyed in the forest
  • Instructional mountaineering/gear session
  • Learn how to belay, proper climbing communication, how to select climbing routes
  • Rappelling session
